This recipe from Isis Heuser uses Breadmasters Markook Thinnest Flatbread to create a roll-up that holds its shape beautifully when sliced. Make them ahead for game day, holiday gatherings, or anytime you need a crowd-pleasing snack.
Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (about 8 slices)
- 2 jalapeños, finely diced (remove seeds for less heat)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 pieces Breadmasters Markook Thinnest Flatbread
Instructions
- Mix the filling: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, crumbled bacon, diced jalapeños, and grated cheddar cheese. Stir until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread the filling: Lay each piece of Markook flatbread on a clean work surface. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over each flatbread, leaving a small border at the edges.
- Roll it up: Roll each flatbread tightly from one end to the other, forming a log.
- Chill: Wrap each roll tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm. (Overnight works great for make-ahead prep.)
- Slice and serve: Unwrap and slice into ½-inch pinwheels. Arrange on a platter and serve immediately.
Tips for Perfect Pinwheels
- Soften cream cheese: Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before mixing—it spreads much more evenly.
- Adjust the heat: For milder pinwheels, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños. For extra heat, leave them in or add a pinch of cayenne.
- Make ahead: These pinwheels are perfect for parties—prepare them up to 24 hours in advance and slice just before serving.
- Flatbread alternative: If you don’t have Markook, Breadmasters Lavash works beautifully too.
- Serving suggestion: Arrange on a platter with fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish. Serve with ranch dressing or extra sour cream for dipping.
