    This recipe from Isis Heuser uses Breadmasters Markook Thinnest Flatbread (or Lavash) to create crispy, golden rolls filled with a simple stovetop apple filling. The filling cooks in just 10 minutes, and the rolls bake in another 10—making this an easy dessert that looks impressive.

    Ingredients

    Apple Filling

    • 2 apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ¼ cup water
    • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon cold water

    For Assembly

    • 2 tablespoons melted butter, for brushing
    • Cinnamon sugar, for sprinkling

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
    2. Make the apple filling: In a medium saucepan, combine diced apples, lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and ¼ cup water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, until apples are soft.
    3. Thicken the filling: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 teaspoon cold water until smooth. Stir into the apple mixture and cook until thickened, about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
    4. Prepare the flatbread squares: Cut each Markook flatbread into 4 equal squares. You’ll have 12 squares total.
    5. Assemble: Place about 1 tablespoon of apple filling on each square. Roll up tightly and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
    6. Brush and sprinkle: Brush each roll-up with melted butter and sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.
    7. Bake: Bake for 10–13 minutes, until crispy and golden brown.
    8. Serve: Drizzle with your favorite toppings—caramel sauce, powdered sugar glaze, or serve with vanilla ice cream.
